Can I try The Quiet Room for free?

Yes. Every new account starts with a 30-day free trial of Pro features, no credit card required. After the trial ends you can subscribe to keep Pro or continue on the free tier.

How does the referral program work?

Share your personal referral code with friends. When someone signs up using your code, you receive 14 extra days of Pro access (up to 4 rewards). Works whether you are on a free trial or an active paid subscription.

How does billing work?

Paid plans are billed monthly. Payments run through Polar; taxes and receipts follow the Polar checkout flow and customer emails. You can manage your subscription in the billing portal at any time.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. Cancel through your billing portal and you will keep access to paid features until the end of your current billing period. No further charges will apply.

What is your refund policy?

We offer a full refund within 14 days of your first paid charge. See our Refund Policy for details.

What payment methods do you accept?

Polar supports major cards and other methods shown at checkout depending on your region.

What is the writing streak reward?

Paid subscribers who write on 18 different calendar days within a single billing period earn a 30-day extension on their subscription (like getting your next renewal free). Progress resets when your subscription renews. This reward applies after your Pro trial ends—trial writing doesn’t count.

Will I get reminder emails?

Writing reminder emails are enabled by default to help you build a consistent writing habit. You can disable them at any time in Settings. We never send marketing emails.

How is my writing data protected?

All entries are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM with per-user derived keys. Content is only decrypted server-side when needed for AI features (thinking companion, visual generation, insights, digest) and is sent to AI providers over encrypted connections. We use API-tier access with providers whose terms prohibit using your content for model training.

How does the manuscript export work?

Pro subscribers can export their entire manuscript as a ZIP file. Collections become folders, entries become text files, and any generated visuals are included. Export is available once every 24 hours.

Can I publish on the free plan?

Putting a brand-new entry on the public web is a Pro feature. If you already published an entry in the past, you can still save, republish updates, or unpublish from the editor on Free. Your Insights Published tab still lists everything that is live for that collection.

What do collection insights look like on Free vs Pro?

On Free you always see entry and word counts for each collection from your own data. Pro adds AI-generated theme cards and manual refresh within daily limits (up to two refreshes per collection per day and thirty across your workspace per day).
